Visit with Dan Peterson of Cornell

چکیده
We visited Dan Peterson at Wilson Lab on Tuesday, April 30 and had a very fruitful 5hour discussion with him on all aspects of drift-chamber construction and operation. Some of what we learned is summarized below. A supporting packet of xeroxes from the CLEO III TDR and the drift chamber review of 11/95 is available. Figure 1: Half section of the CLEO III drift chamber, DR3.

My research area is probability theory. Most of my research has been in random walks in random environments (RWRE), but I am also interested in other non-classical random walks (such as excited random walks) and other stochastic processes (in particular interacting particle systems). Below, I will highlight some of my previous research results and also mention a few areas where I plan to do som...

This paper presents a “bottom-up” perspective on how the formal structures of American research universities might affect the outcomes from their decision-making processes. It is posited that different ways of structuring the university will affect the bottom-up flow of information, advice, and conflicts over policy implementation in predictable ways. In particular, different structures will br...
